500 Calorie Diet

500 calorie diet
Is it healthy to perform a 500 calorie/day diet with a BMR of 2219?

My BMR is 2219.01, is it wise to perform a 500 calorie/day diet for 4 weeks? or should I consider raising the limit?
Alright thanks a lot guys I’ll go with my BMR as the calorie intake :)

Is this a serious question? Obviously, it’s not healthy and there’s a reason why we have the BMR number to begin with. BMR, as you probably know, is the MINIMUM number of dietery calories your body needs in order to maintain minimal functioning, such as heart beating, circulation, breathing, blinking, brain functions, digestion, etc.. When you go below this number, even by a little bit, with your daily caloric intake, your body will respond by further lowering the metabolic rate. Additinally, it will hamper fat loss as during times of famine, the body has adapted through evolution to retain energy storage (aka bodyfat) much more but rather cannibalize lean muscle tissue.

Crash diets, even for short periods of time, are extremely harmful to health and should be avoided. What you’re considering is leaning into the category of anorexia, which is serious. If you are serious, if I were you I’d seek some counselling before doing something dumb.
