Parrots need a well balanced diet as well as humans. So what should go into the planning of the diet of the parrots? They need cereal or bread, vegetables and protein and the best way to ensure your bird receives a balanced diet is to feed a combination of balls and table food.
If you think a diet of parrots in terms of the food pyramid, the base of pellets, as trade has to be done 60 to 80 percent of the that feed the parrots. While the seeds and nuts can be a source of protein, experts estimate that the seeds tend to have more fat and fewer vitamins and minerals than pellets. While the seeds are fine until about 10 to 12 percent of what one eats a parrot, this is not a good idea to give more seeds than that.
A pet bird is not as active as a bird in the wild and if the fat content of seeds can be too much for a pet parrot. Keep this in mind when it serves their bird seed and nuts, and moderate exercise.
Quality seeds are also difficult to serve. Must be clean, free of mold or insects and must maintain its shine and is not dusty.

Water is part of a diet of parrots and is important to use fresh water each day. It is not necessary or beneficial for add supplements unless recommended by your veterinarian, as this can make the water less attractive to parrots. There is also concern that additional supplements can serve as a magnet for growth of bacteria in the water.
